The senior outside hitter had a pair of strong performances to help propel the Royals into the 3A District 1 volleyball playoffs. Garcia recorded 13 kills and 17 digs as Lynnwood defeated Mountlake Terrace 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20. Garcia then had 19 kills and 13 digs in the Royals’ 25-27, 25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 15-13 win over Shorewood. She is averaging 12 kills and 11 digs per match this season. “She’s an outstanding team leader,” said Lynnwood coach Jean Kellogg. “Her play is always constant from game 1 to the end. She plays level-headed and read defenses better than anybody else on this team.”
Corey Hoerner

The senior running back rushed for 105 yards on 17 carries and scored two touchdowns to help lead Lynnwood to a 21-20 victory over Edmonds District rival Mountlake Terrace in a Western Conference 3A football game Oct. 27 at Edmonds Stadium. Hoerner gave the Royals a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and then ran 50 yards for a score in the second quarter. “It was a good night,” Hoerner said. “It was nice to beat Terrace. We’ve lost to them for the last three years.” The key to Lynnwood’s second victory of the season was a strong defensive effort, according to Hoerner. “Our offensive line held their blocks,” he added.
