King’s beats Hoquiam, 42-28

SHORELINE — Billy Green threw 196 yards and four touchdowns to lead King’s to a victory over Hoquiam in the first round of the 1A state football playoffs. All four of Green’s TDs came in the first half, the final two within 2 minutes of the end of the second quarter to put King’s up 28-6 going into halftime.
Hoquiam was able to battle back, cutting the Knight’s lead to 28-20 with 8 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Hoquiam then tried a pooch kick that went out of bounds, giving King’s the ball on the 35-yard line. Ben Welch threw a half-back pass to to Caleb Taylor for a 65-yard touchdown.
Caleb Taylor had 7 receptions for 166 yards and three TDs and Ben Welch had 184 total yards. On the defensive side, Chris Jenkins had eight solo tackles, and Christian Taylor had five.
King’s moves on to play the winner of tomorrow night’s game between Cedar Park and Montesano.
