Boy Scout troop to recycle trees
Boy Scout Troop 300 of Edmonds is planning to recycle trees at Top Foods and Westgate Elementary School on two days in January.
The troop’s main fundraiser is set from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 7 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 8. A cash donation of $10 per tree is suggested. Proceeds help to offset the cost of camping trips.
All donated trees must be free of ornaments, nails, tinsel, plastic and metal. Checks should be made payable to Boy Scouts of America.
Top Foods is located at 21900 Highway 99 and Westgate Elementary School is at 9601 220th St. SW.
Winter Solstice event set: Sultan, the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce and community members are hosting a Winter Solstice event, said to bestow comfort and embrace hope during the holidays.
The event is planned for 7 p.m. Dec. 22 at the Sultan Visitors Information Center, 320 Main St. in Sultan.
Hippotherapy offered: Equestrian Crossings on Whidbey Island, www.equestriancrossings.com, offers hippotherapy classes on horseback. Hippotherapy aims to improve motor skills.
The deadline to register is Dec. 23.
