EVERETT — A south Everett man was detained Tuesday afternoon after he reportedly fired several shots in the air.

The sound of gunfire was reported about 1 p.m. along Marino Avenue, near Fairmount Elementary School.

The school went into a modified lockdown for about 30 minutes, said Andy Muntz, spokesman for the Mukilteo School District, which also serves that area.

The man, who is in his late 20s, apparently was upset about an argument with his wife at their home nearby, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Brent Speyer said.

The man apparently fired into the air more than once.

Police don’t believe anyone was in danger. The case remains under investigation.
