Standoff in Oregon ends in state man’s arrest

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Authorities say a man arrested at a Forest Grove, Ore., used car business after a robbery attempt and an eight-hour police standoff previously served time in Washington state for second-degree murder.
Gregory Jay Glanville was arrested early Thursday at K&S Wholesale. He’s been jailed for investigation of attempted murder, robbery and unlawful use of a weapon.
The Oregonian reported that Washington Corrections Department spokesman Will Mader said Glanville was convicted in Thurston County in July 1978 and served time until 1988, when he was paroled.
K&S owner Scott Page said the masked man armed with a handgun and rifle who entered his store about 5 p.m. Wednesday wanted money. Page said he managed to edge closer and tackle the intruder, wrestling a gun away from him. Police said shots were fired but Page, his wife and young son made it outside safely.
Page told The Oregonian he recognized the man as a former customer when he later saw a photo.
