Russia and the West have imposed economic sanctions against each other, but the Boeing Co.’s titanium supply has not been affected.
Boeing’s primary supplier is the Russia-based VSMPO-AVISMA Corp., one of the world’s largest titanium supplier.
“We are cooperating with Boeing in a normal regime. Both sides are implementing the earlier reached agreements,” Marina Voronkova, the company’s regional policy and public relations, said on Monday.
Her comments were reported by ITAR-TASS, a news agency run and owned by the Russian government.
VSMPO-AVISMA has already signed a contract to supply titanium for Boeing programs, including the new 777X airliner.
The titanium supplier is owned by Rostec, a Russian state-owned corporation. Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov was targeted by economic sanctions in April in response to Russia’s invasion of Crimea.
