Learn about, enjoy cider at seminar at EvCC

The Northwest Agriculture Business Center is offering a one-day seminar on cider Feb. 14 at Everett Community College.

The seminar, State of Cider: 2015 and Beyond, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be in the Jackson Center/Wilderness Center, Room 101. The fee is $95 and includes beverages, lunch and cider.

Cider Seminar: State of Cider: 2015 &Beyond

Producers of Cider and Perry are now working in the fastest growing category of alcoholic beverage in North America. As more orchardists are considering planting specific apple varieties, and other businesses consider investing in the Cider and Perry industry, it is imperative to understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that impact sustainable growth. Join the Northwest Agriculture Business Center (NABC) at this one-day seminar to better understand the industry as it exists today, and what actions should be taken to ensure a thriving industry for the future. Keynote speaker is internationally renowned Cider Maker &Educator Peter Mitchell from the UK. Peter will address the state of cider in the world and US markets.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from a highly-respected cider expert what distinguishes a quality Cider or Perry, as he discusses the issues about quality that drive sustainability. Other presenters from Washington State University (WSU) and Northwest Cider Association (NWCA) will address a wide array of challenges facing the Cider and Perry Industry. At the closing of the day’s event, Peter Mitchell will lead a Sensory Short Course and cider sampling.
