Foggy Noggin events
Bothell’s Foggy Noggin Brewing is celebrating five years with events each week in March. March 14: Rare keg of Twice Kastrated Dawg, an Imperial English Strong Ale, aged in a Woodinville Whiskey Barrels on tap. March 20: A vertical tasting of four versions of Fn5, Foggy Noggin’s Anniversary Ale: dry hopped, oak aged, Lagavulin oak aged and Warre’s Port oak aged. Foggy Noggin will sell spots for those tastings. Tickets are $30 and must be paid in tasting room either March 14. March 21: Fifth anniversary celebration, including bottle release of 2015 Anniversary Ale and pouring of rare beers.
Casting for Recovery
Casting for Recovery, a breast cancer awareness nonprofit, is holding a fundraising event called Fish Tales and Ales 6 p.m. March 21 at Flycaster Brewing in Kirkland. Tickets are $60 and include hors d’oeuvres, drinks and music. There also will be silent and live auctions. All proceeds support Casting for Recovery’s Washington chapter, which works to enhance the quality of life of women with breast cancer through a unique program that combines breast cancer education and support with the sport of fly fishing. CfR provides a two-day fly fishing retreat at no cost each year for breast cancer survivors. For more information, visit castingforrecovery.org.
Snohomish fest
The Snohomish on the Rocks Distillery Festival is 2 p.m. March 21 at Thomas Family Farm 9010 March Road, Snohomish. Tickets are $30 and include eight tasting tickets, a food truck voucher and a commemorative shot glass. For more information, visit www.snohomishwa.gov or call 425-244-6967.
Washington Cask Beer Festival
The 2015 Washington Cask Beer Festival is March 28 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. There will be two sessions, starting at noon and 6 p.m. More than 40 breweries are expected to participate, with over 100 cask-conditioned beers available. Doors open 15 minutes before each session begins, with taps closing 30 minutes before each session ends. Tickets, which includes a commemorative tasting glass and 25 sample tastes, are $40 advance and $45 at the door. Tickets are on sale at www.washingtonbrewersguild.org.
Taste of the Northwest
Bethany’s 10th annual Taste of the Northwest Wine Tasting and Silent Auction is 5 p.m. April 17 at Xfinity Arena. Tickets are $25 and include tastes of Northwest wines, craft beers and spirits. There will be a silent auction with all money raised going to support the Bethany organization, which assists senior and disabled Snohomish County residents. Schooner Zodiac beer sail
Explore the region’s best microbrews aboard the historic Schooner Zodiac, a Bellingham-based tall ship, on two multi-day brewery tours in July and August. The Schooner Zodiac embarks on a four-day brewery expedition of the San Juan Islands in July and a three-day transit from Bellingham to Seattle in August. The four-day brewery expedition in the San Juan Islands takes place from July 9 through 12 and includes beer tasting at Anacortes Brewery and Island Hoppin’ Brewery on Orcas Island. Passengers will also be taken to the Cask and Schooner Pub in Friday Harbor. The three-day brewery cruise to Seattle is from Aug. 15 through 17 and includes beer tasting at Anacortes Brewery, Mukilteo’s Diamond Knot Brewery and Fremont Brewing in Seattle. Passage on both cruises includes all meals prepared by a professional chef in the ship’s galley. Passengers on the Zodiac have the option of participating in the sailing of the ship as well as learning to navigate, stand watch and steer the vessel.
