EVERETT — The city’s cultural arts commission is asking for nominations for its 2015 Mayor’s Arts Awards and Richard Wendt Award of Excellence.
The awards recognize the accomplishments of artists, arts and cultural organizations and others who, through the arts, are committed to making Everett a good place to live.
The deadline to nominate is 5 p.m. Sept. 11. Help to make a nomination can be found at everettwa.gov/1299/Wendt-Mayors-Arts-Awards.
This is the 23rd year of the Richard Wendt Award of Excellence, a lifetime achievement award given to a person whose strong support of the arts has been ongoing through philanthropic and volunteer service.
In recognition of Everett’s growing arts community, the commission created the Mayor’s Arts Awards, now in its sixth year. Categories include art educators, artists in the community and young artists demonstrating promise and commitment to the Everett arts community.
The commission will review the nominations and select the recipients. The awards, which are non-monetary, will be presented Dec. 1 at the Everett Performing Arts Center.
