BOTHELL — A Bothell police detective accused of having sex with a student she met while serving as a high school resource officer has been acquitted of all charges in the case.
The Seattle Times reported that after a three-week trial, it took a King County jury about two hours Tuesday to find Detective Dione Thompson not guilty of three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Thompson has been on paid administrative leave since a former Bothell High School student made the allegations in September 2014. Thompson’s lawyer, David Allen, says there was no sex between Thompson and the student and that the detective was a mentor to the teen.
Thompson has been with Bothell police since 1998. She will remain on paid leave until the department finishes an internal investigation.
