Donation in memory of teacher, coach

The Kiwanis Club of Snohomish recently accepted a donation from the Pacific Northwest Track and Field Officials Association to the Tuck Gionet Student Support Fund at Snohomish High School.

The Tuck Gionet Student Support Fund was established in the memory of the longtime Kiwanis Club member and SHS teacher who died in August. Gionet also served as the school’s track coach and student service Key Club adviser as well as Centennial Middle School’s football coach.

Coffee drinkers raise $3k for food bank

The Sky Valley Food Bank received a donation of $3,201.11 from One Cup Coffee Co., the result of the coffee shop’s One Cup Local Give program. For every purchase, the coffee shop donates 2 percent to a local charity. The 2015 contribution is “a major boost for our efforts as we approach the holiday season,” said Carla Stewart, the food bank’s administrative director.

One Cup Coffee’s Monroe shop is located at 19906 State Route 2. The company also partners with Silver Cup Cafe in Everett, which helps support local food banks as well. A portion of the One Cup company’s sales also go to World Vision. Learn more at onecup.org.

Many hands make for tasty feast

Annie’s Community Kitchen, a ministry of Edmonds Lutheran Church, credited its volunteers for a successful Thanksgiving Eve feast it served free Nov. 25 to over 250 guests.

Local grocery stores provided food for the ministry’s “gleaning” program. PCC Natural Markets cooked the turkeys in their commercial ovens. The Edmonds-Woodway High School Key Club baked 80 pumpkin pies. Kamiak High School musicians provided a musical interlude for diners to enjoy during the dinner. And several local politicians helped serve, including state Sen. Maralyn Chase, Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling, Edmonds City Council President Adrienne Fraley-Monillas, Edmonds City Council member Mike Nelson, Woodway Town Council member Tom Whitson, and newly elected Edmonds School Board member Carin Chase.

Annie’s Community Kitchen serves free dinners every Wednesday night and welcomes volunteers, especially during preparation times 9 a.m.-noon. For more information, email robert_a_snyder@msn.com.
