New EdCC Swift stop
Students can look forward to a shorter walk to the Edmonds Community College campus from their Community Transit bus with the opening of the Swift College Station on southbound Highway 99 at 204th Street SW in Lynnwood.
College Station is under construction and is expected to open in early 2016. The stop was part of the original plan for Swift, but was deferred until the city of Lynnwood made 204th a through street to the college and signalized the intersection earlier this year.
New interim chief in Mill Creek: The city has appointed Larry Dickerson as the interim chief of police.
Dickerson is a former chief for the Lacey Police Department. Since his retirement in 2005, he has served as an interim police chief for Elma, Sunnyside, Bainbridge Island, Tenino, Mountlake Terrace, Union Gap, Battle Ground and Wasilla, Alaska. He’s also a consultant for more than 25 law enforcement agencies.
Mill Creek’s former Police Phief, Bob Crannell, notified the city of his decision to retire Oct. 1. The 31-year law enforcement veteran spent 29 years serving Mill Creek.
Parents raise money for grads: Parents of seniors at Glacier Peak High School are raising money for a drug and alcohol-free grad party for the class of 2016. Organizers hope to create a fun event at a surprise location that will keep students safe and off the roads. The parents are working to raise $2,500 for the event.
