MLK Day volunteers needed

Adult volunteers are needed to work with students during a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 18 at locations around the county. Peace Parade: The annual Caroll Cochran Index Peace Parade is to be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 1 in Index, starting from the old Fire Hall. Costumes, signs and instruments are encouraged. Anyone is welcome, just show up. More info: 360-793-0983.

Recording your family history: The monthly meeting of the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society is set for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 6 in Room 13 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family History Library, 22015 48th Ave. W, Mountlake Terrace. Sara Jane Ruggles, an oral historian, will talk about recording your family history using the latest equipment and explain how to update your data. Guests are welcome.
