Driver killed in fiery crash near Stanwood

STANWOOD — It will be up to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner to determine the age, gender and identification of a driver who died in a fiery crash near Stanwood Thursday night.
Emergency dispatches received a call around 10:30 p.m. that a truck had gone off the roadway in the 23400 block of Pioneer Highway and was in flames.
Once the fire was extinguished, emergency crews were able to confirm that the driver had died inside the truck.
The driver is believed to be an adult, but gender and identification of the victim is pending, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The sheriff’s office Collision Investigation Unit is trying to determine the cause of the crash.
