Boeing announces 737 deal with Chinese airline

LONDON — Boeing has announced an order from Kumming Airlines for 10 of the U.S. maker’s 737 Max 7s, which are designed for operations from high-elevation airports.

The memorandum of understanding was announced Tuesday at the Farnborough International Airshow.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner says the new planes will support the airline in its “strategic plan to establish an extensive flight network throughout China.”

Kunming Airlines, which began operations in 2009, is based at Changshui International Airport in the capital city of Yunnan province and serves 40 cities across China.
