OSO — Double murder suspect John Blaine Reed likely will be transported to Snohomish County in the coming days after waiving extradition Thursday during a court hearing in Arizona.

Sheriff’s detectives are expected to retrieve Reed, 53. It could be as early as next week, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Craig Matheson said.

Reed is charged with aggravated murder for the shooting deaths of his former neighbors Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude. The Oso couple was shot to death April 11. Their bodies were found in a remote grave May 24 after Reed’s brother surrendered and cooperated with investigators.

Prosecutors suspect that Reed shot the couple over a long-standing property dispute. He was arrested last week by Mexican authorities, who later turned him over to police in Pima County Arizona.
