EVERETT — Opus Bank has moved locations in downtown Everett.

The bank closed its retail operations on Aug. 12 at the northwest corner of Hewitt and Colby avenues. That was the former headquarters of Cascade Bank for nearly 100 years.

Last week, Opus Bank opened a new location on the ground floor of the Aero Apartments at 2901 Rucker Ave. in Everett, less than a quarter mile from the old location.

Opus Bank has been in the former headquarters of Cascade Bank since it purchased the financially troubled Everett-based bank in 2011.

Three years ago, Opus CEO Stephen H. Gordon said they were looking to sell the headquarters, which is a 52,582-square-foot building.

When Opus bought troubled Cascade Bank, Gordon pledged to “create a strong super-regional bank in the Western region.”

At that point Opus had five branches in Irvine, which were merging with Cascade’s 22 branches in the Puget Sound region. Today, Opus has more than 55 locations in Washington, California, Oregon and Arizona.
