LYNNWOOD — Police believe a heavily armed Lynnwood man threatened his girlfriend at gunpoint Sunday and dragged the screaming woman into their home.

The early morning call ended when the man was arrested for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault and unlawful imprisonment.

A 911 caller reported that the suspect, 27, appeared to be carrying a long gun of some type.

While officers were on their way to the scene, the man’s girl friend called 911. The dispatcher could hear her yelling at someone to put down the gun.

Two Lynnwood officers arrived and took up positions near the front door as information was being relayed to them by dispatchers, Lynnwood Deputy Police Chief Jim Nelson said.

The man then walked outside, Nelson said. The officers could see that he was carrying what appeared to be a shotgun.

The officers ordered him to put down the gun. He eventually complied. After he was in handcuffs officers discovered that he’d been in possession of three guns: a loaded shotgun, a loaded handgun and an unloaded handgun.

Police believe the couple had an argument and the man hit her. He also allegedly threatened her with the shotgun and at one point fired it at the floor near her feet.

Officers found a hole in the floor with what appeared to be shotgun pellets in and around the hole.
