Monroe land-use consultant purchases Everett firm

MONROE — Land-use consultant Harmsen &Associates in Monroe announced this week that it has acquired Everett’s Alpha Subdivision Professionals.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition allows Harmsen &Associates to grow its presence in southwest Snohomish County.

Alpha Subdivision, known as ASPI, will have access to Harmsen’s expertise as well.

“This acquisition is but one example of Harmsen &Associates’ commitment to growth and providing a full range of professionals and services to our markets,” said Doug Slager, Harmsen’s president. “It fits perfectly with our strategic growth plan that includes both geographic and services expansion.”

ASPI will continue to operate the same as before the acquisition; there will be no change to ASPI’s name, brand or day-to-day operations.

ASPI, founded in 1994, provides land surveying and land-use planning to public agencies, commercial developers and private owners.

The firm, located at 4532-B Evergreen Way, has a dozen employees.

Harmsen &Associates, which is owned by an eight-person employee leadership team, has been expanding by acquiring firms and internal growth.

Harmsen, which was established in 1974 by Bill Harmsen and Dave Boersema, is headquartered in Monroe and has offices in Oak Harbor and Mount Vernon.

Harmsen has 27 employees.

Harmsen provides land surveying, land use planning, and civil engineering services to commercial, public works, school, institutional, and residential development markets in northwest Washington state.
