Candy for kids: Providence General Children’s Association Guild 8 will sell See’s candy Feb. 13-14 at local Providence Everett Medical Center campuses to support children’s health care. Look for Valentine’s displays in the lobby at the Pacific campus (916 Pacific Ave.) 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 13 and near the gift shop at the Colby campus (1700 13th St.) 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 13 and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 14.
Project Linus: The next Project Linus event will be 12:30-2:30 p.m. Feb. 14 (second Tuesday) at the Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett, 3025 Lombard Ave. Volunteers make quilts and blankets to donate to Snohomish County kids who have experienced traumatic life events. Make a blanket: It’s National Make-a-Blanket Day with Project Linus, 12-5 p.m. Feb. 18 at Zion Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 330 Union Ave., Snohomish. Book drive: Providence General Children’s Association Guild 10 and Everett Community College nursing students hold a book drive this month to benefit Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic’s Reach Out and Read program. Fundraiser for Y program: The Y-Community is a program of the YMCA of Everett that serves low-income families and is run by donations. A fundraiser to help raise money is underway. Sale items include Valentine’s Day-themed jars and glasses filled with sweets for $6, rubber bracelets that say “We Love Our Community” for $3, and haircuts from a licensed barber for $10. Shoe drive: The Alderwood Terrace, Edmonds Noon, Edmonds Daybreakers, Lynnwood, and Mill Creek Rotary clubs are collecting new shoes and socks for Clothes For Kids. The goal is 1,000 pairs. Athletic shoes are especially needed. Work clothing, YWCA: The YWCA Working Women’s Wardrobe program is in need of personal care and feminine hygiene products. The items may be dropped off at 3301 Broadway, Everett. Donate clothing: Faith Lutheran Church, 6708 Cady Road in Everett, seeks help with its Community Meals program through donations of gently used or new cold-weather clothing, including boots, shoes, sweaters, coats, gloves and warm socks for both kids and adults. Children’s books and magazines also are needed. All donations appreciated.
Kid clothes, Lynnwood: Clothes For Kids, a Lynnwood nonprofit that provides wardrobes for low-income families, seeks volunteers to help sort clothes, stock shelves, assist shoppers and more. Kid clothes, Arlington: Arlington Kids’ Kloset, a north county nonprofit that provides school wardrobes for low-income students twice yearly, seeks volunteers to help in all aspects of the organization. Chores, errands: Volunteer Chore and Transportation Services, a program of Catholic Community Services, seeks volunteers to assist with household chores, yard care and transportation enabling elders, veterans and adults with disabilities to remain independent in their own homes. Enhance Fitness: Group Health Medicare members are invited to take a low-impact aerobics class for free. The class, for ages 50 and older, runs 8:45-9:45 a.m. weekdays in five-week sessions at the Carl Gipson Senior Center, 3025 Lombard Ave. in Everett. No experience needed.
