CAMANO ISLAND — A man wielding a knife robbed the Camano Island Coffee Roasters shop Saturday, holding the cashier at knifepoint.

At about 11:50 a.m., a man later identified through surveillance video as a 59-year-old Camano Island man, entered the shop at 848 N Sunrise Blvd. and stepped behind the counter. He held a knife to the cashier’s throat and said, “Give me the money now or I’m going to cut you,” according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.

The robber left in a waiting vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash. Sheriff’s deputies used the video and statements from witnesses in the store to identify the suspect.

He was later located and taken into custody, along with the driver of the getaway car, identified by police as a 23-year-old Camano Island man. Both men were booked into Island County Jail pending arraignment Monday. The car used in the robbery was seized as evidence.
