What: Heucherella “Hopscotch”

Heucheras and heucherellas are known for their foliage, and “Hopscotch” is a perfect example. Leaves that open in the early spring are red and contain darker red centers, which eventually soften to a reddish-bronze. The large lobed leaves add a tropical look to the garden, especially as they turn dark green when the temperatures rise. Although they have white flowers, it is the leaf interest that most gardeners cherish. Heucherellas are more heat tolerant than their heuchera counterparts, as they were developed as a cross between heuchera and tiarella.

Sun/shade: Heucherellas can tolerate full sun to part shade, but they maintain their full colors in part shade either planted in the ground or in containers.

Size: These plants are 10-12 inches tall with a 20-24 inch spread.
