Jasmine Stacey, a student at Sequoia High School, recently served as a page in the state House of Representatives in Olympia. She was sponsored by Rep. June Robinson, D-Everett.
Pages perform a wide variety of responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the floor. In addition to contributing to the efficient operation of the Legislature, pages receive daily civics instruction, draft their own bills, and participate in mock committee hearings.
To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16. For more information, visit tinyurl.com/HouseLegPage (Washington State House) or tinyurl.com/SenatePage (Washington State Senate).
