Front Porch: Stroke, CPR, assistance

Stroke awareness: Providence Regional Medical Center Everett has scheduled a stroke awareness event at the main entrance to its Colby Campus, 1700 13th St., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday. It will feature a specially outfitted ambulance painted with messages advising to seek medical attention quickly for stroke symptoms. Stoke symptoms include: sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body; confusion, trouble speaking or understanding; trouble seeing or blurred vision; trouble walking, with dizziness, loss of balance or coordination; and sudden severe headache.

CPR training: People can receive free training in CPR thanks to a partnership between the American Red Cross and the Tulalip Resort Casino. The training sessions will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 13 in the Chinook Room at the casino. Free first aid kits will be provided. Assistance League: The Assistance League of Everett is holding an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 5107 Evergreen Way. Enjoy raffles, light appetizers and beverages, take a tour, and get information on how to volunteer and make friends through the Assistance League.
