The Lake Stevens and Glacier Peak baseball teams won 4A District 1 semifinal games Monday.

The Vikings beat host Mount Vernon 5-4, and the Grizzlies topped visiting Jackson 14-8.

Lake Stevens and Jackson will match up in Thursday’s district championship game at Meridian Park in Shoreline. The winner of that contest will earn a berth to the 4A state tournament. The Bulldogs will take on the Timberwolves in a loser-out contest at 4 p.m. Thursday in Shoreline.

SNOHOMISH — Cam Keller doubled three times and drove in seven runs, Skyler Kelley threw five stellar innings in relief and Glacier Peak snapped Jackson’s nine-game winning streak.

The Timberwolves (13-9) mashed their way to a seven-run lead after the top of the second inning, but the Grizzlies (15-6) answered back with five runs of their own in the second frame, a rally sparked by the first of Keller’s three doubles, and five more runs in the next two innings to take control of the game.

“We told them to keep their heads in it … and that as long as we just picked away at it little by little we’d be OK,” Glacier Peak coach Bob Blair said.

Lake Stevens 5, Mount Vernon 4

MOUNT VERNON — Lake Stevens received 41/3 strong innings from starter Jacob Bradley and held on for the victory.

The Vikings (13-9) jumped out to a three-run lead after three innings but needed some late-inning insurance, courtesy of a run-scoring double from senior Tyler Guzman, to hold off the Bulldogs (15-6).

“It’s really special,” Lake Stevens coach Josh White said. “But we haven’t accomplished our goals yet.”
