A day for Norway
Today is Norwegian Constitution Day. On Saturday, you can learn more about the meaning and history of this celebration of independence at a meeting of Thelma Lodge 26 Daughters of Norway.
The meeting starts at 10 a.m. at Normanna Lodge, 2725 Oakes Ave., Everett. Katherine Jane Hanson, an affiliate associate professor of Scandinavian studies at the University of Washington, will be the guest speaker.

Teen leaders needed: The city of Arlington is seeking applicants for the youth council.
Students in eighth grade through senior year of high school can apply.
The seven-member group meets twice a month from September to June and is charged with advising the City Council on issues affecting young people, along with event and activity planning.
Information and applications are online at arlingtonwa.gov/AYC, and applicants may be asked to interview for the position.
World Diversity Day on Sunday: Snohomish County’s Human Rights Commission has planned a celebration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
It’s set for 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds.
Elected officials, local leaders and others invite anyone to share in the discussion about combating stereotypes and promoting understanding among diverse cultures.
