The Everett Sail and Power Squadron recently was recognized on a national level with the United States Power Squadrons’ Distinguished Civic Service Award — one of 10 in the nation so honored this year, out of 365 units. The squadron promotes boating safety throughout Snohomish County and beyond.

The local group also recently held a Change of Watch Ceremony, which brings in a new bridge, or board of directors, each year. New officers are Commander Linda Martin, Educational Officer Jim West, Secretary Cathy Rich, Executive Officer Gary Baker, Administrative Officer Frank Havens, Treasurer John Tarpley, and District Secretary Annette Ferguson.
