MILL CREEK — A 17-year-old boy is accused of causing a crash that knocked down power lines across Highway 527 in Mill Creek.

The boy allegedly had been drinking, according to police. He suffered a knee injury and was taken to a local hospital. He may face charges for minor in possession, city spokeswoman Joni Kirk said.

It happened around dawn. The boy reportedly drove into a power pole near 173rd Street SE. He said he had swerved to avoid rabbits.

A second car was damaged by the downed lines. The driver was unhurt.

The road was closed for some time.
