EVERETT — Howarth Park beach has reopened after Everett workers cleared away landslide debris that was blocking access.

Drivers now can enter the park from the west off Mukilteo Boulevard at Seahurst Avenue, and people can get to the beach over the pedestrian bridge.

The eastern access to the lower park along Olympic Boulevard remains closed. The city expects to remove the last of the slide debris and reopen the eastern entrance sometime next week.

Landslides blocked access to the park May 18, and the city hired an engineering firm to assess the stability of the slopes before reopening the western entrance.
