Mukilteo Elementary School principal resigns after year

MUKILTEO — Ausencio Cinco Delgado, who came to Mukilteo Elementary School this school year as its principal, has resigned.

Pat Schmidt, the retired former assistant principal at Kamiak High School, has taken over as principal for the remainder of the school year.

Superintendent Marci Larsen announced the change in a letter sent to parents last week. School district spokesman Andy Muntz declined to comment on the specifics of the resignation, saying it is a personnel matter.

In a social media post announcing his appointment, the school’s PTSA said Delgado previously worked in the Marysville School District as its chief academic officer. He also had worked in the Stanwood-Camano, Shoreline, Edmonds and Tahoma school districts.
