EVERETT — The city on Tuesday named longtime Everett firefighter Timothy Key as interim fire chief.
Key, 48, has been with the department since 1995 and most recently served as the assistant chief of emergency medical services. He is on the leadership team of several boards of local organizations focused on health issues.
The interim role goes through this year, after which a new mayor will take office.
Key’s appointment follows the departure of former chief Eric Hicks.
Hicks started the chief’s job in January and left this month for another department closer to his home in south King County.
The chief’s job pays about $150,000.
