Liyala Dickens, of Lynnwood, was named the winner of a Contribution to Student Life Award and an Ujima Award at Lehigh University’s Student Life Leadership Awards ceremony in May.

“Ujima” is the third principle of Kwanzaa and means “collective work and responsibility.” The award recognizes a student who has taken responsibility for and worked collectively with others to create a more inclusive community on the Pennsylvania campus.
