Man who drowned in Stillaguamish River on Friday is identified

ARLINGTON — A man who drowned in the Stillaguamish River near Arlington on Friday has been identified as Alec J. Althuisius.

Althuisius, 24, was from Camano Island. His death was ruled an accident, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday.

He is believed to have jumped off the pedestrian bridge on the Centennial Trail into the river at Haller Park, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. He was pronounced dead at Cascade Valley Hospital.

A sunset vigil is planned for Friday, according to the Arlington Times, a sister publication of The Daily Herald.
