Getchell social studies teacher is named state’s best
The Washington State Council for the Social Studies named Steven Cross, a social studies teacher at Marysville Getchell High School, its 2016-17 Teacher of the Year.

The Washington State Council for the Social Studies named Steven Cross, a social studies teacher at Marysville Getchell High School, its 2016-17 Teacher of the Year. Cross was honored at an Oct. 7 ceremony held at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

Cross was nominated by a former student. He has mentored several students who went on to win the Daniel J. Evans Civics Education Award. He also is active in state-level social studies efforts.
