Remember Monroe nun
Sister Barbara Geib, known at Monroe’s St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church as “Sister B,” died Sunday at age 85. Along with her service to the church, she was an advocate for domestic violence victims for more than two decades, and served as a chaplain for Monroe’s police and fire departments. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Valley, 601 W. Columbia St. in Monroe.
Valentines at library
The Friends of the Edmonds Library is selling boxes of valentines for $1 as part of an ongoing book sale it hosts at the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St. Each box has 32 valentines and includes prizes, such as stickers and pencils. Proceeds go toward library programs. Find books just right for Valentine’s Day for sale as well.

Stuffy sleepover in Mukilteo
Children ages 2-7 are invited to bring their stuffed animal for a special story time at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. The stuffed animals can then stay at the library for a sleepover. Children return at 1 p.m. Sunday to pick up their friend and receive a scrapbook showing their adventures in the library. No registration required.

Dance with your valentine
A Valentine Dance with Camano Junction will be held 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. Tickets are $15 and sold at the door. Free dance lessons are at 6:30 p.m.

Lighthouse seeks docents
The Mukilteo Historical Society seeks volunteer docents for the 2018 season. Training is provided, and there are positions for different interests. Shifts are 5.5 hours a month Saturdays or Sundays, April through September. Learn more at the next monthly meeting of the historical society, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave.

Teens aim to help Kenya
Local teens plan a “Me to We Revolution” fundraiser, 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at The Living Room Coffee House, 1636 Fourth St., Marysville. There will be speakers, music and a silent auction. All donations will help build a school in Kenya.

HEADS UP
Rucker Hill development continues
A developer seeking to build new homes on Rucker Hill has resubmitted plans to the city.
The city advised the developer in September that it needed to consolidate two earlier plans. That happened last month.
The location is 812 35th St., where there is a large, brick colonial-style house called the “Moody Mansion.”
If the application meets city standards, public comment could begin later this month. A preliminary decision could follow in March.
