Japanese-American hero’s story told

The Monroe Historical Society presents “Tom Haji: Hometown Hero Not Forgotten” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Monroe Library, 1070 Village Way. Speaker Mario Vega will share the story of Haji, a Japanese-American who lived in Monroe, attended high school there and was interned with his family in California after Pearl Harbor. Haji enlisted while interned and was killed in action.

Celebrate Pi Day

The Stanwood Library celebrates Pi Day from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Celebrate all things 3.14 on 3/14 with activities, games, prizes and refreshments. The library is at 9701 271st St. NW.

Learn about apprenticeship

The Everett School District plans an information night about its youth apprenticeship program, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the library at Jackson High School, 1508 136th St. SE, Mil Creek, and 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday at district headquarters, 3900 Broadway, Everett.

The new program, with the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeships Committee, is geared at incoming juniors and seniors interested in local aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries.

Open house about Ash Way

The Maple Road and Ash Way intersection near Alderwood mall in Lynnwood floods multiple times a year. Snohomish County and Lynnwood are partnering on a construction project to help ease the flooding and will host an open house to discuss the plans, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Lynnwood City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W.

Free art event for teens

The next Teen Night at Schack Art Center is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. This free event is for ages 13-18. Work with local artists on a mandala project.
