Paleontology for littles

Children ages 3 to 6 can see fossils and casts from the Burke Museum at an “Age of Dinosaurs” paleontology event set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Space is limited and registration is required.

Kids Fish-In at Silver Lake

Expert local guides share the joy of fishing and teach basic skills to children ages 4-14 at a free fish-in, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Thornton A. Sullivan Park at Silver Lake, 11405 W. Silver Lake Road, Everett. Bring your own rod, reel and tackle box. Register by May 11 to reserve an hour-long session. Walk-up spots might be available.

Congressman’s staff hosting Mukilteo event

U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen is inviting constituents who need help navigating federal bureaucracy to visit during “mobile office hours” Thursday. The congressman’s staff plan to meet people at the Mukilteo Library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. that day to assist with issues such as Social Security benefits, veterans’ disability claims, tax refunds and immigration matters.

Larsen does not plan to attend.

The library’s address is 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. Anyone who cannot attend is invited to call Larsen’s office for assistance.

Hearing on Edmonds tree plan

A draft “Urban Forest Management Plan” — sometimes called an urban tree plan — will be considered at a public hearing of the Edmonds Planning Board at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Edmonds Council Chambers, 250 Fifth Ave N.

Adraft will be considered that’s slightly revised from was presented at an April 19 open house. The revisions make some clarifications and corrections to the background sections, but do not change the proposed recommendations.

Humane Society fundraiser

The Stanwood-based Humane Society, operated out of HappyPaws Farm in Arlington, holds its annual dinner and silent auction, 1 to 4 p.m. May 19 at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Lynnwood. Reservations are due by May 16. Tickets are $36 and come with a dinner choice. Proceeds benefit veterinarian care for animals at the farm, as well as pets owned by low-income households.

HappyPaws Farm seeks helper

Meanwhile, the Humane Society also seeks a junior board member age 18-25 with an interest in animals and experience with computers and social media. This is a three- to six-month position. Applications are due before May 18.
