Scottish fiddlers perform

Dawson Place open house

Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center will celebrate the completion of its building remodel with a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at 1509 California St., Everett. An open house and tours follow. Dawson Place provides intervention and therapeutic services to children who are victims of sexual assault and child abuse.

Gangs 101

Everett Police detective Jeff Nevin provides an overview of active Snohomish County gangs at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Nevin will discuss local gang graffiti, artwork and attire, cover legal definitions and the laws police use to track gang members, and relate how Everett police work with other agencies to discourage gang activity.

Discuss school growth

The Everett School District holds three public conversations about enrollment growth as school board members seek support for another attempt at a bond measure. Meetings are at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cascade High School (801 E Casino Road), Thursday at Everett High School (2416 Colby Ave.), and May 29 at Jackson High School (1508 136th St. SE, Mill Creek).

Flags for our Fallen

Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7511 hosts its second annual Flags for our Fallen 5k walk and run event at 9:30 a.m. May 26 at Lake Tye Park in Monroe. The family-friendly event, held on Memorial Day weekend, raises money to support the Post as it seeks to add new members, help veterans, and extend its local outreach. Registration for walkers and runners is $40.
