Stanwood school groundbreaking
The public is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Stanwood High School at 4 p.m. Wednesday at 7400 272nd St. NW. Guests should gather at the top of the hill on the campus, north of the baseball fields. The groundbreaking will feature remarks from Stanwood-Camano School Board President Julie Dean, Superintendent Jean Shumate, Stanwood High School Principal Christine Del Pozo and others.

Tween and teen crafts
Middle and high school students are invited to make buttons to pin on their jackets or backpacks at an event from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW. Supplies provided.

Voyage around the world
Brenda and Richard Furry discuss their plans for sailing around the world at the next Mukilteo Yacht Club meeting, 6 p.m. Thursday at the Milltown Sailing Association clubhouse, 410 14th St. at the Port of Everett. Hear about where the idea came from, their plans and goals for the adventure, preparations for departure and the affirmations and attitudes that have kept them married and speaking to each other during this process.
Power and sail boaters are welcome to come and learn more about club membership.

Expert appraiser Bette Belle continues her tour of local libraries with a visit to the Marysville Library, 2 to 4 p.m. June 2. If you have a collectible or antique you think is valuable, bring it along to find out. Limit one item. Adults only. The library is located at 6120 Grove St.

OPPORTUNITY
Rotary Challenge Race derby
The annual Challenge Race sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lynnwood will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 3 at the Lynnwood Transit Center, 20100 48th Ave. W. The race gives students with developmental disabilities the experience of a soap box derby-style race while riding in a car safely piloted by a peer driver. Lunch is provided and an awards ceremony completes the day.
Participants must be at least 5 years old and under 130 pounds. Registration is required.
