Lynnwood construction to renew
The Reserve at Scriber Lake, the 296-unit senior apartment complex that burned down last year, is back under construction.
The permits have been issued, and work is expected to wrap up in summer 2019, according to Lynnwood Mayor Nicola Smith. She mentioned the project during Thursday’s State of the City address.
The fire was the largest in Lynnwood’s history, and the damage was estimated at $38 million. Its cause could not be determined, but there was no sign of foul play.

Juneteenth celebration today
The NAACP of Snohomish County plans a Juneteenth Community Celebration, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Senator Henry M. Jackson Park, 3302 18th St., Everett. The national celebration marks the Union Army’s notification of slaves and slave owners in Galveston, Texas, that slavery had been abolished. The local event will include a potluck, educational speeches, field games and more. Hot dogs and hamburgers provided; participants are asked to bring a side dish, dessert or drink to share if able.

Splish, splash in Marysville
A free Splish Splash Summer Bash for families is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the spray pad at Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave., Marysville. Arts and crafts, face painting, games and a kids concert at noon.

Several support groups exist for caregivers, to help those dealing with the challenges of unpaid caregiving. Here are some of them:
The Alzheimer’s Association keeps a list of local support groups. Groups for caregivers are available in Arlington, Bothell, Edmonds, Everett, Lynnwood and Snohomish.
