HEADS UP
U.S. 2 trestle to close
The westbound U.S. 2 trestle is scheduled for a full closure from 7 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for the state’s repaving project. Detours this time are much longer and are expected to have bigger traffic effects.
Drivers wanting to get to I-5 will have to find alternate routes. Official detours follow Highway 9 north through Lake Stevens and Marysville or south through Snohomish and Mill Creek. Note that Lowell Larimer Road also will be closed for a city of Everett pavement project.
Closures are weather dependent. Five of the past eight scheduled closures have been canceled because of rainy forecasts.
This is the fourth of six planned closures, which now extend into September past Labor Day. No closures are planned during the Evergreen State Fair.
