Dog park anniversary

The Granite Falls dog park celebrates its seventh anniversary with a potluck and yard sale, starting at 11 a.m. Sunday at Eagle Park, 701 E Galena St. The dog park is accessed from Stanley Street.

Friendship Festival at airfield

The Down Syndrome Association of Snohomish County holds a Friendship Festival, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Harvey Airfield, 9900 Airport Way, Snohomish. The event, formerly known as the Buddy Walk, includes a fundraiser walk as well as games, a petting zoo, touch-a-truck, live music, food trucks, prizes, raffles and more.

Book sale in Arlington

The Friends of the Arlington Library hold a book and bake sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave. This month’s sale features antique books. Make a purchase and be entered in a drawing for a door prize. Proceeds benefit library programs.

Night out at fire station

South County Fire hosts a Neighborhood Night Open House, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hilton Lake Fire Station 12, 3525 108th St. SE, Everett. The fire chief and station firefighters will give a brief presentation on emergency services and programs in the neighborhood. There also will be fire engine and medic unit tours, first aid tips, and information on staying safe and healthy as you age.

Granite Falls stadium dedication

The Granite Falls School District holds a ribbon cutting and stadium dedication at 6:30 p.m. Friday at 1401 100th St. NE. There will be speakers, band performances and special guests from the football championship years of 1963 and 1990.

A look back at POW, artist

“The Extraordinary Life of WWII POW Fred Pilkington” will be shared by his wife, Mary Pilkington, at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Camano School House, 993 Orchid Road, Camano Island. U.S. Army Col. Fred Pilkington was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 and spent four months in German prison camps. After work as a teacher, coach and school administrator in his native New York, Pilkington moved in 1984 to Camano Island and worked as a printmaker. He died in 2013.

Help Everett plan for schools

The Everett School District seeks applicants for a committee that will help address high school enrollment growth. The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Members will represent each high school and middle school. Students also will take part. Committee work starts Sept. 26 and will report its suggestions to school leaders by March 31, setting the stage for changes in fall 2020.
