“We need to find this guy,” the Edmonds Police Department tweeted.

EDMONDS — Police in Edmonds believe a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in a busy supermarket last Saturday tried to do the same thing to another girl an hour later in a different store.

An anonymous tip led police to check the H-Mart Store in Lynnwood for additional video, Edmonds police Sgt. Shane Hawley said. The tip came from a father who reported the same suspect tried to sexually assault his daughter the same day.

The first incident occurred around 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Ranch 99 market, police said.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 50s or 60s, possibly with a goatee. He was reportedly wearing a bright blue T-shirt and dark shorts, based on a still image from surveillance video.

Police have gathered video clips from both stores. A clip from the most recently obtained video was released Friday.

The video reportedly shows the same suspect in the H-Mart store. The stores are about 4½ miles apart.

Anyone with information about the suspect can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, call Edmonds police at 425-407-3999, or go to edmondswa.gov/police/anonymous-tip.html.

“We need to continue to push his picture and this story to the public, as he is not yet identified,” Hawley said in a press release. “We would also like to be able to ask the anonymous tipster to come forward and contact us, as he never reported it to the police.”
