NEW YORK —The XFL announced Wednesday it will have franchises in eight cities — including Seattle — when it kicks off its inaugural season in February of 2020.
The football league, founded by wrestling entrepreneur Vince McMahon, will have 45-man active rosters and play a 10-week regular season.
At a press conference held at MetLife Stadium, XFL Commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck announced the new football league will have franchises in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Seattle, Tampa Bay and Washington, D.C.
The Seattle team will play at CenturyLink Field.
“After months of research and consideration, we’re thrilled to announce the cities and venues of the XFL’s eight inaugural teams,” Luck said. “We are committed to being ingrained in the local community and extremely fortunate that our teams will have world-class facilities to call home.”
