Reader Carl D. Colburn said that while refurbishing the bathroom of his house built by Harold Sisson in 1947, he found an Everett Daily Herald dated Feb. 14, 1947, under the floor. It was yellowed from age but intact. He snapped a photo and sent it to the newspaper.
Maybe in 72 years this page you are reading will end up somewhere cool.
Lost dog reunited with owners
Turns out, a German shepherd rescued by a sheriff’s deputy was microchipped.
The owners were reunited with their pup at the Everett Animal Shelter, where she is getting treatment. They said the dog ran away in September. The sheriff’s deputy found her running through the woods near Gold Bar over the weekend. He teamed up with some truckers to get her to safety. She’s bathed, eating regularly and expected to make a full recovery, according to an update from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Mukilteo clubribbon-cutting
Because of snow, the grand opening of Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club, 10600 47th Place W., scheduled for Feb. 15 has been postponed until 4 p.m. March 21.

Blackmans Lake meeting rescheduled
The Friends of Blackmans Lake has rescheduled its first meeting because of snow. It was set for 6 p.m. this past Monday. The time has been changed to 6 p.m. Feb. 25, at the Snohomish fire station, 1525 Avenue D. All are welcome. The group has been testing the water quality of Blackmans Lake and plans to share the results. The lake covers 63 acres, and state records show past pollution.

This free family event, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Imagine Children’s Museum, 1502 Wall St., Everett, is all about keeping your pearly whites healthy and clean. Mini dental exams for the kids, Dr. Science and his Decay Experiment and dental goodie bags.

Lego par-tay
There’s a Lego Block Party 4 to 5 p.m. Feb. 15 at Mariner Library, 520 128th St., Everett. Build independently or join in a construction challenge. Legos provided. The activity is designed for school-age children.

Art contest
The Mukilteo Art Contest encourages youth to explore their artistic talents. Students K-12 from the Seattle area can enter the contest and win up to $100. A dozen winners will be chosen, three from each category: Junior: K-4, non-photographic. Intermediate: grades 5-8, non-photographic. High school: non-photographic. Digital: all ages, photographic. Deadline is Feb. 28.
