Culture night at EHS

Everett High School hosts Culture Night from 5:30 to 8 p.m. March 13 at the school’s main gym at 2416 Colby Ave. “Culture night is a night for students to share their culture with their community. Come join us to enjoy a night full of performances, some food samples, face painting, and music from all over the world.” The event is free, and this year’s theme is “REP Everett around the world,” according to the invitation.

Performers include students and others such as Mariner High School’s step team and Western Washington University’s Baile Folklorico team.

Lawmakers host town halls

Sen. Keith Wagoner and Reps. Carolyn Eslick and Robert Sutherland are hosting town hall meetings March 16 to provide a 2019 legislative session update and to take public comment. The meetings will take place in two locations: at the Darrington Library, 1005 Cascade St. from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the Concrete High School Commons, 7830 S. Superior Ave. from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Winner, winner

The Stillaguamish Senior Center chicken dinner for all ages is noon to 2 p.m. March 17 at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. Menu includes roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, coleslaw, roll and a pudding dessert. Live music by The Sensations.

Cost is $10 for adults, seniors $8, and children under 12 are $5. Proceeds benefit the center. Canned goods for food bank are welcome.

Comic books

“Sequential Reaction: A History of the American Comic Book” runs through March 14, at the Russell Day Gallery, Everett Community College, 2000 Tower St. The show uses digital images, original-art pages, production art, prints and more to showcase the development of the 20th-century American art form.

The free gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday; closed Saturday and Sunday.

Bothell-area power line work

Crews are preparing for major electric-grid upgrades in the North Creek area between April and mid-summer.

An informational meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Willis D. Tucker Activity Center, 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish.

The work involves replacing transmission wires and tower components between the Seattle City Light substation at 3912 156th St. SE and the Bonneville Power Administration substation at Maltby Road and 43rd Avenue SE.

The work aims to lower the risk of regional power outages. Some traffic disruptions are likely.
