AquaSox drop 5th straight game

HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Hillsboro Hops defeated Everett 5-1 on Wednesday and handed the reeling AquaSox their fifth consecutive defeat.

Everett led early, but Hillsboro scored twice in the second inning and twice in the third to take a 4-1 lead and hung on from there.

Connor Hoover had two hits to lead an AquaSox (21-26, 3-6 second half) offense that manage just four singles in the game.

Notes

AquaSox pitchers George Kirby and Damon Casetta-Stubbs were named to the Northwest League All-Star game on Wednesday.

Kirby, the Seattle Mariners’ first-round pick in June’s draft, has a 0.90 ERA in four stars with Everett this season. He has allowed one earned run in 10 innings, struck out seven and walked none.

Casetta-Stubbs, an 11th-round pick by Seattle in 2018, is 3-1 with a 4.00 ERA for the AquaSox this season.
