Miranda Granger takes to the UFC octagon for the second time Saturday in South Korea.
The Snohomish native and rising MMA star looks to keep her perfect professional record intact when she takes on Brazil’s Amanda Lemos as part of UFC Fight Night 165, which takes place Saturday in Busan, South Korea.
Granger and Lemos are part of the preliminary card, which because of the time difference will begin at 11 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday night. It is scheduled to be one of the early bouts and is being televised live by ESPN. The fight is being contested in the strawweight class (115 pounds) and is set for three five-minute rounds.
Granger (7-0), who fights out of Charlie’s Combat Club in Everett and was The Herald’s 2018-19 Woman of the Year in Sports, is coming off a unanimous decision over Hannah Goldy in her UFC debut in August. She took this fight on late notice, stepping in for the injured Veronica Macedo in late November. Granger is ranked by Tapology.com as the 75th-best women’s flyweight in the world. Granger, who usually fights as a strawweight, is listed as a flyweight because her bout against Goldy was fought at 125 pounds.
Lemos (6-1-1) is fighting for the first time since completing a two-year suspension for testing positive for a banned substance. She is ranked by Tapology.com as the No. 43 bantamweight (135 pounds) in the world.
