The champs are back: Storm returning to Everett for 16 games

EVERETT — The 2020 WNBA champions are returning to Everett.

The Seattle Storm announced Tuesday they will play all 16 of their 2021 home games at Angel of the Winds Arena as the team awaits renovations at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

The Storm open their 32-game schedule with a 2020 WNBA Finals rematch against the Las Vegas Aces at 7 p.m. on May 15. Before the game, the Storm will celebrate their title victory and receive their championship rings.

Details on fan attendance “will be available soon,” according to a news release from the team.

“The Storm continue to work closely with the WNBA, Washington state and the Snohomish Health District to determine the guidelines for safely allowing fans at Angel of the Winds Arena this season,” the release said.

Seattle, which has won four WNBA championships since entering the league in 2000, will play seven of its first nine games at home.

The team went 6-1 while it played seven home contests at Angel of the Winds Arena in 2019.

The WNBA will take a break from July 15 through Aug. 11 for the Tokyo Olympics.

• Sunday, June 6: vs. Dallas Wings, 4 p.m.

• Tuesday, June 22: vs. Washington Mystics, 7 p.m.

• Friday, July 2: vs. Atlanta Dream, 7 p.m.

• Wednesday, July 7: vs. Los Angeles Sparks, 7 p.m.

• Sunday, July 11: vs. Phoenix Mercury, 3 p.m.
