Silvertips top T-birds, inch closer to U.S. Division title

EVERETT — Ronan Seeley scored twice and the Everett Silvertips moved closer to claiming the U.S. Division title with a 5-2 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday evening at Angel of the Winds Arena.
Everett (15-3-0-0) earned its 30th point on the season with five games left to play. Second-place Portland has 19 points with seven games remaining.
The Silvertips play at Portland at 5 p.m. on Friday night with a chance to clinch the division crown.
Jacob Wright, Cole Fonstad and Ty Gibson also scored, and Dustin Wolf stopped 29 of 31 shots for Everett.
Luke Bateman and Jordan Gustafson scored for Seattle (7-10-0-0).
